Illusions
As a representation of what the artists sees, photography is often considered a representation of the truth, but in actuality it represents only what the artist seeswhat she thinks and feels about a subject. Photographic images can be altered and enhanced in the dark room or on the computer to comply with the artist's intentions. When we look at a photo, we think we are seeing an image of what is real, but in actuality it is an illusion, and demands a second look.
As
applied to jacquie's photographic work, Illusions are all that
and more...they are altered images making statements about the artist
in relationship to her subject. Her Illusions all start out
as a photograph. From there, they break the rules, they evolve, they
move through jacquie's vision of what could be. The image is changed
to enhance specific details, to abstract, redesign, and/or colorize
an image, all to make a unique statement.
Sometimes
an Illusions may be a portion of a previous image that now
takes on new life, not only in form but in name...and sometimes the
name is also the illusion! What's in a name? What's in an image? Take
a look at jacquie's Illusionsimage and titleand
see what they conjure up for you.

IMAGES Illusions portfolio brings to life a vast array of flowers
as in Life, is it a hibiscus leaf or what is it? The endless
exotic floras from Hawaii, the intricate yet simple cabbage rose caressed
by the rain of Oregon, these are just the start of what you will see
find in Persona
of Nature. Not many people wouldor even couldwalk up
to a moose and pat it, but jacquie did to get Moose Eyes shown
in Beautiful
Creatures. Eyes
to the World will showcase beautiful nâ keiki (children)
from Hawaii as they grow up, and eventually will feature eyes to the
South. You can almost hear the gentle surf from the Pacific Ocean shores
of Oregon to the shoreline of Oahu and other islands in Landscape
A` La Carte. These are just a few of the Illusions you
will find, please explore them alla few of them will from time
to time have a detail enlargement of segments of the image, just to
give you a hint of the larger image.
The subjective feel of an Illusions influences what Epson papers are used: Enhanced Matte, Watercolor, Fine Art Rag, Canvas or other fine art papers that are Epson compatible and archival.
